Aust Day Long Weekend
I went camping to Treachery Beach near Seal Rocks with my girlfriend over the Aust Day Long Weekend and had a great time:

- cooking on open fire
- sleep in tent
- good camp setup
- surfed the waves (after not surfing for over 3 years)
- snorkelled
- explored the area
- saw some wildlife
- had afternoon beers

During the snorkel we saw a 2m long sea turtle and also a very big eagle ray. Have been snorkelling for many years and the turtle was the best thing I've seen.

Best part of it all is my girlfriend likes camping.

Acting Manager
I have been made Acting Manager of a team and will be hiring a few people in the next few weeks, I interviewed a cadet and semi senior person last week for these roles.

I'll be getting management support from our non-exec director and also from the MD so I can be sure I'm doing the right things by my people.

Work
Today I got my first commission from a financier to do QS work on a building development. I had been chasing it since February so am happy that it came off. I have won other QS commissions this year but this is the first major one and also one that can lead to more work with other financiers in the future.

Next month I'm going to Hong Kong and China for 10 days. First to a friend's brothers wedding then we're going to SW or SE China for 5 days. I went to university with her and visited her in HK last year.

City 2 Surf
I did the City 2 Surf on Sunday and my adjusted time was 101.35 minutes (ie 1 hour, 41 mins and 35 seconds). When I was 17 I did the race in about 100 minutes which means that after 15 years (including smoking for 10 of those years) my fitness is about the same. I didn't do an iota of training though and am pretty happy with myself getting a time like that.

Bushwalking
I did an enjoyable bushwalk with the NPA (National Parks Association) yesterday in Ku-ring-gai National Park.

We met at Waroonga at 9am and proceeded down the Gibberagong Track to Bobbin Head. It started on a fire trail and soon we were heading down some steps deep into the valley, seeing some types of Banksia and Gum Trees along the way. At the base we hopped over Lovers Jump Creek and then made our way alongside a river to Bobbin Head. Just before the descent into Bobbin Head there were some Aboriginal axe grindings and a carving of a person in the rock. We crossed over a suspension bridge and then made it to the picnic area at Bobbin Head (this was about 2 hours later). We had a small snack break there.

We then made our way back up the mountain, through some rainforest and then had lunch up on the ridge somewhere. After a bit more trekking we had a choice between the easy way back along the ridge or the long and adventurous way back through the gorge, so of course we chose the latter.

It involved finding a path through a semi marked track down the the gorge, across a creek or two, back up the gorge, down again and then back up. Seeing that the path wasn't used very much it wasn't properly marked and we had many moments of being lost for a while then finding our way and then getting lost and then finding our way.

One of the best things that I saw was a creek that run under the rock and then over the rock to make a small waterfall.

We ended up getting back to the car on time at 15.30.

Me and Shirts
Not a week goes by that I don't splot some of my lunch on a shirt. Today it was the veg stew that I made in my slow cooker, last week it was something else, the week before that it was laksa etc.

I've got a meeting in 10 minutes and this yukky orange stain on my shirt from the carrot & pumpkin.

Work is really good otherwise!!

76 Movie Whore
Movie Whore!! ...
1. Take the list and post it into your LJ, marking movies you've seen with an X, and removing Xs if you haven't seen an already marked one.
2. Add five more movies to the end of the list. The meme must be fed!
3. Count how many Xs you have. If you've seen more than 70 movies, you are a ~*~ Movie Whore ~*~. Post the score of how many movies you've seen in the subject line.
4. Use a LJ-cut since you've got at least one LJ-friend who doesn't really want to see an ungodly number of movies snaking its way down the computer monitor.
5. (optional) Question your friend's taste in movies. :-p

The Transit Lane
Well I was caught on my first traffic offence...driving in the transit lane on Epping Rd - $155 and no loss of points. The policewoman was pretty friendly though so it wasn't all bad.

It was possibly the first time I'd driven in the transit lane by myself and always used to get annoyed when other people would be driving in them with only one person in the car.

It seems that the occassional time when I do something "wrong" I get caught. Damn!

Today I got myself a coffee grinder and some roasted beans from my friend's coffee company. I'm looking forward to grinding the necessary amounts in the morning instead of having ground coffee that eventually loses its flavour over time.

And its only 2 days to go till Inquisition.

Yay it is Leather Pride Week
Yay it is Leather Pride Week!!

Started off yesterday with Fair Day and a great day too. Saw lots of familiar and unfamiliar faces from around the traps - had a few beeries, watched the comps, spoke to people, walked around and looked at stalls. Wow the drinks line was short and drinks very reasonably priced. Maybe NMG could learn something here!

Anyway thanks to the people from LP who make events like Fair Day possible.

Artspace tonight then Inquy on the weekend.

Double yay!

Also on the weekend I had my first Black Belt class at Ninjutsu. I'm not a black belt yet but seeing that my next grading will be to a senior level I was invited to this class. It was a very intense class for 3 hours and we learnt some very effective techniques including bone breakers, pressure points, throws and strikes.

Another weekend wrap up
Seems like my LJ entries tend to be weekend wrap up sorts of things, well here comes another...

Friday night
Dinner with Dad's side of family and sister in Haberfield at a great Italian Restaurant. Good time had by all and fun to see my little brothers. Amazing how quickly kids grow up - oldest is 8 and youngest is 5 (actually I'm the oldest but you get what I mean). Got home for day 2 of my ninja sword program. I'm using a PracticalPlus sword by Paul Hanwei which is a "live" sword, meaning you have to be somewhat careful to not take off a limb or damage furniture in the process.

Saturday
Qi gong class early on Saturday which was good as always with lots of energy produced. Sifu is away for a month so the student teachers are taking it. After almost 3 months of qi gong I'm starting to feel the energetic effects such as a lot more energy around my hara/low dan tien. Paddy's Market after for fruit & veg shopping - its so much cheaper there than at the big retailers!

Had a bit of time at home doing housework then to the intermediate rope workshop - was good to see a cross section of the community eventhough a bit top heavy on the male side. Everyone had fun and learnt lots. The main harness taught is the basis for many peoples' foray into the bondage world.

Next it was on to my best friend's 34th party / dinner at the Cloey. The Cloey is an old favourite in my circle of friends and always comes up with the goods for producing a good night.

After that it was onto a Rennaissance party on Cleveland St in Surry Hills / Redfern - funnily enough in the same place where many wonderful fetish parties were held 10 or so years ago. Ran into a senior black belter from ninjutsu who had good talks with he invited me to the seniors class this saturday...yeah man can't wait!

Sunday
Being Mother's Day and all we had a family celebration at Big John's in Sans Souci. If you want big portions of food Big John's is the place for it. Not everyone at the table needs to order something the portions are that big. I had the lamb shanks which was very very good.

Got home to start watching the 4.5 hour version of Dune. Fell asleep 3.5 hours into it so have a bit more to watch at home this week. What an amazing movie, definitely recommended - characters, costumes, sets.

What a weekend just passed!

Hellfire on Friday night was a great experience. Started with a fairly lengthy wait to get into Rogues - why the door people do this I do not know considering it wasn't very full inside at that time, maybe its a Rogues thing?. Once inside there were was much 3D eye candy - lots of yummy girls and guys in their best fetish clothes. It was great to see people who have been coming to HF for so many years. Caught up with a number of them who I've seen around the traps over the years. Lytex's show was ok and then a few hours later The Kastle's show was quite full-on - nailing a chicky to a cross with a nail gun. Thats one of the most extreme shows I've seen in a long time, the last one being Otto's branding, or maybe even the show involving the champagne enema at Threshold. Rogues is a good venue for HF me thinks as it has a number of areas in which to play but pity about the AC. I had to leave at 2am as had Qi Gong in the morning but would have loved to have stayed later. Had a photo taken which might end up in the Star Observer.

I was up at 7am for Qi Gong which was energising (as usual), then afterwards went to Parklea Market to buy a plant. I got a French Lavendar and a pot for it as well as some fruit for the week. Had Qi Gong in the afternoon too where learnt some more detailed aspects of the art.

On Sat night I went for dinner with a girl I met recently. We went to Maya's Indian Restaurant on Cleveland St which is an old favourite of mine - it has Thali and Dosa which is rare for an Indian restaurant and if you've been to India then you know how good that part of the food is. Afterwards we went to Deans for coffee - this is also an old favourite too with many great memories from the university days. We chatted a lot and she wants to learn Reiki so will probably be teaching her in the next few weeks. Was home and asleep by 1am.

Yesterday I went fishing with two of my friends, one of them has a tinnie. We left from Gordons Bay and anchored around Wedding Cake Island near Coogee. We caught a few small yellowtails which were thrown back, a trevally jumped off the hook as it came out of the water and I managed to hook a largish eating fish which I cooked last night. I don't know what fish it was but it tasted good with garlic, lemon and butter. I also jumped off the boat to do a bit of snorkelling and the water is still very warm. I didn't see the big shark that bit a guy's surf board at Bronte.

My-oh-my, time has passed since the last entry.

Summer holidays were summery and I went to Confest with a lady friend who I met around that time. Lots of fun was had including nudity, learning and eating good food. Had a kundalini experience one night too which was bloody amazing.

Started new job in the City and very happy here. Closer to home and working harder.

Have increased my martial arts training to now include qi gong which I've been doing 2 or 3 times a week to add to ninjutsu once a week. I'm now a 5th kyu at ninjutsu.

All this training has severely cut into partying time so I will have to do some shuffling in that area to get back out there although being in Chinatown early Saturday mornings means I've been doing my froot & veg shopping at Paddy's which is a nice change (and cheaper too).

I bought a leatherman's hat a couple of weeks back and am hoping to get some wear out of it soon.

New Season New Career
I resigned from my job last Friday and will be partly changing my career in the new year. I will be working for a building consulting company as a building surveyor which I'm quite looking forward to and at the same time using my existing skills to help grow their business.

On other matters I hurt my back in martial arts a few weeks ago so have had a bit of time off work to recover - after lots of physio, swimming and stretching it is much better.

Am very much looking forward to summer especially with Summer Dreaming towards the end of December.

Earthdance in Sydney Park
Today was Earthdance in Sydney Park and what a great day it was. It was the first time it had been held in the city, previously being at various places such as Colo and near Wombeyan Caves (my memory doesn't serve me too well as to where they were). I gotta admit though that I really love the trance and today enabled me to get my dose of it.

I got there around 2.30pm and wandered around waiting for my friend who I was meeting there. It was set up like all good festivals...three dance floors, walls of speakers, big tent for shelter, food stalls, a dome and great decorations. There was also a circus arena where people could practice things like juggling, devil sticks, pois, unicycle riding, hulahoop and other things like that.

While wandering around I ran into one of my Ninjutsu buddies and two guys I know, one of whom introduced me to Confest last year (thats a story for another journal)

My friend soon arrived which was great as we hadn't seen eachother for a few months. I've known her for 14 years and we share the same birthday in the same year and were both born in the same country. Thus we have many things in common.

We got some food to eat then headed up the hill to the main psytrance floor. It was packed with people, many who I've seen at parties over the past 8 or 9 years.

I find that once I get onto the dancefloor the music keeps me there so I danced and danced and shook all the work-related stress out of my body. It was so invigorating to be dancing outside again as the last outdoor party I went to was Space Tribe back in December last year.

About 4 o'clock the wind picked up and it became a bit cold but all the moving (and some scotch) kept me warm.

Later on we went down to one of the other dancefloors and there was a group from Melbourne called Decoy playing live trance. The sound emanating from the electric double base sent shivers down my spine. It was cool to hear the psychedelic sounds that you hear in music being produced in front of your eyes and ears.

Down there I ran into an old friend and a girl I taught Reiki to two years ago (also at Earthdance).

I now feel refreshed and look forward to some more trance parties over summer.

Snorkeling Season
The snorkelling season has begun. Yesterday I went to Gordons Bay for my first snorkel of the season and it was good to be back in the water again eventhough the water was quite cold.

Went in the water from the diving entry which was different as I normally enter the water further down towards the beach. There is an underwater path from the diving entry which consists of a number of concrete blocks connected with a heavy chain. You can follow this around when you're diving. I've dived once at Gordons Bay but have snorkelled many times.

At Gordons Bay during the summer I've seen Blue and Green Gropers, Sting Rays, Wrasse, Snapper, Wobegongs and many fish that I don't know the names of.

Snorkelling is one of my favourite pastimes.

Things
Well the last few days have been pretty dreary - I hate it when I'm walking to walk from the station and it starts to rain (like today) Apart from that I quite like the rain.

I've been looking after my mother's cat for the past 1.5 weeks. She's a really cute pure bred Birman who is about 11 years old, we got her just before I turned 21 when she was a few months old. Since she's been with me she's started sitting on my lap and sometimes sleeps with me which I really like. If it wasn't for my leather couches I'd get a cat myself. I like stroking her and making her purr.

Work has been tough of late - I'm working on a large aged care project, mainly remeasuring the facade at the moment. The architects are very slow with their documentation which is making my job quite difficult. I spent yesterday and most of today playing "spot the difference" between the latest set of elevations and the previous set. Most architects cloud changes they make so others can tell, not this one! The intention is that I'll end up on site for a while which will be a nice change from the orifice.

I'm looking forward to the weekend, especially Hellfire on Friday night. It used to be weekly and is now monthly and I wish they were more frequent so I can get my fix more often.

Planning on going doofing in a few hours
Well its Friday night and I'm about to go to bed with the plan of waking up in a few hours to go doofing. The thing is Sesto Sento is in town, he's a really good psy trance DJ and he's playing at SPACE tonight. I hope not to miss his set if I get there.

Failing that I can always wake up and watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony (only joking)
